Peter Metcalfe provides photographic services as needed for publications produced by Metcalfe Communications, and is frequently contracted to provide photographic services, most recently for the Alaska Marine Highway System. Metcalfe has an extensive collection of his own photographs that date back thirty years on a diverse range of subjects including Native Alaskan cultural activities; commercial, sport and subsistence fishing; marine mammals; black and brown bears in wilderness settings throughout Southeast; logging and loading log ships; cannery and fish processing; and most of the communities of Southeast Alaska. He also has collected hundreds of historical photos, most pertaining to Southeast Alaska Natives, but also on a wide range of Alaskan subjects.
